The registration probe assembly on some devices have incorrect registration pins installed—the pins must not be flat and must be pointed as shown in the photo below.

Devices MT169 to MT234 (especially MT200 to MT234) are likely to have the incorrect pins. During the next site visit to the devices listed above, inspect the registration pins. If the wrong pins are installed, replace the registration probe assembly (500-02855A) AND the registration contact block (50-2643A). See the Engine parts page and the Procedures page for details. Devices that are experiencing registration problems must be inspected as soon as possible and the parts listed above replaced if the wrong pins are installed. Also, because service stock was compromised for some time, any devices that have recently had the registration probe assembly replaced must be checked immediately.

Possible errors caused by this problem include:

• 100160: Workflow timeout
• 40002: CAN BUS communication error

Possible errors caused by this problem include:

• TEC/LEC backbone time out for extend or retract position.
• Locking or unlocking TEC clamps.
• Difficulty with holding or locking backbone in LEC position.
• Vibration of the whole engine during plate loading or unloading.

In some newer controlled releases, Version Checker may indicate that the board’s BBR version is incorrect. This warning can be ignored because the BBR is not field replaceable and will have no impact on device functionality. BBR firmware can only be installed on a board during board manufacturing and is only used by the device when attempting to reprogram the boot code (for example, when downloading recovery code). All existing BBR versions are sufficient for this purpose.

To solve a safety concern of the rear hood closing unexpectedly if not fully opened, replace the home side strut with a locking strut. See the FCOs page for details.

The installation visual reference guide for Semi-Automatic devices has been updated for series 2 devices. To download the new VRG, see the Installation page.

A troubleshooting item has been posted for the problem of the Z-stage not going to 0.00 when the safety loop is opened. See the Troubleshooting page for details.

Increased media sensitivity on V- and X-speed devices is normal. Check the CTP media database for the correct drum speed and estimated power setting, then refer to the media tech note for the detailed setup procedure.

When installing the GENINE board, the plastic film MUST be removed from the heat sinking compound on the back of the board. Failure to remove this film can lead to unexpected resets or premature failure of this board. For devices built between 1 April 2004 and 20 July 2004, please verify that the GENINE board has been installed correctly. See Checking GENINE board installation on the Procedures page

It includes drum speeds, head power and imaging times.

Instructions on upgrading Lionel board firmware on the ThermoFlex Wide II device, the UDRC-L unit, and the Magnus VLF device have been added to Firmware Upgrades: Backing up and restoring MCE, MPE, PDB, LIONEL, and GENINE boards.
